The opening round of the A-League certainly didn’t disappoint, with 14 goals scored and a raft of exciting new imports showing us how attractive the league has become.

On Thursday night a youthful Brisbane Roar outfit pulled off an encouraging 3-1 away victory against Western Sydney Wanderers.
The blockbuster on Friday night between Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory was a grave disappointment, following a tepid 0-0 draw.
Central Coast Mariners kickstarted their season with a 3-2 win over Perth Glory in a highly entertaining encounter on Saturday afternoon.
Allianz Arena took centre stage on Saturday night as Sydney FC and Melbourne City both had to settle for a point after a pulsating 1-1 draw.
And to round off the opening weekend’s action, Newcastle Jets broke their New Zealand curse to shock Wellington Phoenix and claim a 2-1 victory.
