Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has denied that there is a rift between he and Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

The mega-star reacted angrily to being substituted at the weekend’s 2-2 draw away to Las Palmas, but the French manager insists all is fine in the Spanish capital.

Speaking to media in the build-up to tonight’s clash with Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park, Zidane was quick to quell any doubt surrounding the situation.

“Everything is normal,” he said.

“It is not just Cristiano. All players can be angry when they leave the pitch. We’re already thinking about tomorrow’s game. I took the decision for the good of the player.

“Nothing has changed. All this talk [about the incident], more than about tomorrow’s game, well we must live with that. We are relaxed. I’m not stupid, and he is intelligent. We are all here for the same thing.”

The leaders remain unbeaten at the top of La Liga, but have stuttered in recent weeks having only managed to draw against Villareal and Las Palmas.

“This can happen, and maybe will happen again in the season,” Zidane said. “But the team is good. Nobody likes dropping four points in two games, but football is like that. Sometimes it is good to get a jolt — and then to keep going with our work.”

Los Blancos travel to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund tonight in the Champions League, before a home La Liga fixture against eighth placed Eibar at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
