Arsenal grabbed all three points against Manchester City with a dominating performance at the Emirates in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud gave the Gunners a two goal lead before Yaya Toure’s excellent strike proved to be nothing more than a consolation for Manuel Pellegrini’s men. The Londoners were by far the better team on the night, as City only seemed to spark into life in the final 10 minutes. The win ensured that Arsenal closed the gap between themselves and Leicester City to two points. City remained in third position despite the loss, but now stand six points clear of pole position and four points behind Arsenal.

City’s away form

The loss was City’s fifth consecutive away defeat, as the Citizens continue to struggle on the road in recent weeks. With Vincent Kompany still out, there has been an evident weakness in the defence as the Sky Blues continue to concede in their skipper’s absence. Yaya Toure’s fine finish was City’s first away goal in the Premier League in almost three months, a worrying sign for Pellegrini.

Leicester City’s win over Everton assured that they stay atop the Premier League until Christmas, having now extended their lead over title favourites City. After a fantastic start to the season, the sky Blues have extended their miserable streak away from the Etihad. Their last away win came way back in the start of September, leaving the manager wondering what has gone wrong.
