The Mariners were kept scoreless for the first time this season as Western Sydney can make the trip home from Gosford with the three points.

After a rough first half neither side was able to break the deadlock. Topor-Stanley had arguably the best chance of the opening 45 but failed to hit the target with his header from close range. Castelen had a great chance earlier on but was only able to strike the upright after beating the onrushing Izzo.

The Wanderers kept knocking on the door in the second half were finally able to break the deadlock through substitute Brendon Santalab. Castelen had another chance only moments before which he should have put away but his blushes were saved by Santalab as he coolly slotted it home to open the scoring. Nichols then put the icing on the cake in the 93rd minute with a complete miss hit that dribbled over the line to wrap up the game.

The Mariners were solid on the night and were possibly unlucky not to get something from the match. Fitzgerald had a fantastic chance right at the death to level the scores but Redmayne came up with a top draw save when he needed too.

Super Sub Santalab

The Wanderers have Santalab to thank after he came off the bench to secure the points for Western Sydney. The Wanderers created a number of chances throughout the match but failed to take the game by the scruff of the neck as they were very wasteful and lacked composure in front of goal.

The Wanderers celebrate with Santalab

Santalab who is very much still returning to full fitness after a long injury lay-off showed why he might have been in the starting 11 instead of on the bench after the late injury in the warm up to Bridge.
