Wellington Phoenix rubbish four-year FFA license agreement reports

Reports circulating about Wellington Phoenix agreeing to a four-year extension are premature and false, according to the club.

Yesterday and this morning various reports confirmed that a license renewal between the club’s owners and the FFA had been negotiated with strict provisions and commercial targets to be met.

A statement issued by the club’s general manager Gary Dome denied an agreement is yet to be made regarding a licence extension.

“The media reports from Sydney this morning that the Wellington Phoenix have been granted a four-year licence extension are wrong,” said Dome.

“The Wellington Phoenix have not agreed to a new license extension.”

“The negotiations for a license extension are continuing but the Wellington Phoenix have not, and will not, conduct these negotiations via the media.”
