Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko before the transfer window closes.

The Mirror reports that Tottenham have made a bid of roughly half of Newcastle’s £35m valuation of the France international, one that is expected to be rejected by Rafa Benitez’s side.

Sissoko is reportedly keen on an exit from the Championship club, and having starred for France at Euro 2016, is not without a host of potential suitors, including Real Madrid. However, no official offer has been received from Spain and time is running out for Sissoko to make his exit from Tyneside.

“I was waiting for my time and it may be arriving,” the midfielder told L’Equipe.

“I feel ready to go to one of the big ones.

“It’s flattering,” Sissoko responded when asked about how he felt being linked with the likes of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

“Who would not be flattered by the interest of one the best clubs in the world, if not the best? Rejecting Real (Madrid) is difficult. Working under Zinedine Zidane could be something fantastic.”
