Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes that arch rivals Liverpool have found their perfect match in Jurgen Klopp.

The comments come after the release of UEFA’s 2015/16 Europa League Technical Report which was headed by Ferguson, who was joined by former Liverpool assistant Jacques Crevoisier and Spain’s technical football director Gines Melendez.

“He’s bought into the fans,” he is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

“And the support have taken to him because he’s shown that enthusiasm on the touchline, with his energy and his personality when he’s jumping out there.

“I think the combination of both suit each other.”

Klopp’s Liverpool enjoyed an exciting maiden season, but came up short in the League Cup and Europa League finals, falling to Manchester City and Sevilla respectively.

Ferguson pointed to Anfield’s powerful atmosphere as a key during their successful cup runs.

“I’ve always thought that playing at Anfield was very difficult,” he added.

“Because the crowd create an amazing atmosphere that puts a lot of teams, opponents and the referees under pressure a lot.

“We saw evidence of that when 3-1 down against Dortmund they got that second goal and the crowd lifted them and I think it inspires this team.

“They are that kind of football club, Liverpool, that get inspired by their support.”

Liverpool travel face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening, and currently sit sixth on the Premier League table.
