Roberto Mancini’s side extended their lead at the top to four points momentarily, while Stefano Colantuono’s Udinese continue to hover dangerously above the relegation zone following the match.

Inter Milan have defeated Udinese 4-0 at the Stadio Friuli on Saturday, with a double from club captain Mauro Icardi and a solitary goal each from Stevan Jovetic and Marcelo Brozovic ensuring Inter retained top spot on the table.

The first three goals of the match were a result of defensive errors, with Icardi (twice) and Jovetic capitalising on misplaced passes in the home side’s defensive third to strike past Orestis Karnezis in goal for Udinese.

Brozovic’s goal late on, however, was one of the goals of the Serie A season so far. Receiving the ball out wide and driving to the edge of the box, the Croatian then unleashed a technically flawless curled effort that flew into the top corner and put the gloss on a resounding victory away from home.

Icardi back with a bang

The Argentine was reinstalled into Mancini’s starting XI after being left on the bench during their 1-0 victory against Genoa the previous weekend. And it turned out to be a marvellous decision by the manager.

Icardi was his usual prolific self during his time on the pitch, netting two well taken goals and looking as lively as ever. The Argentine was more involved in the match and his side’s play than what has been the case in recent weeks, and was constantly contributing positively for Inter during his time on the pitch.

With just Samir Handanovic, Jeison Murillo and Joao Miranda the only guaranteed starters in Mancini’s side this season, the 22-year-old has seemingly cemented his place in the Nerazzurri’s starting XI for their upcoming Serie A fixture against Lazio with one of his best performances in 2015-16 so far.
