Roma put its late defeat to Inter at the weekend to bed with an impressive 3-0 win at Sassuolo.

The Giallorossi were 2-0 up at half time after a Seydou Doumbia header early on was followed by a stunning goal from Alessandro Florenzi. A late Miralem Pjanic strike rounded off the win for Roma. Sassuolo is not quite safe yet, being 12 points above the relegation zone with five games to go. Roma, meanwhile, is still in the third and final Champions League qualification spot.

Sassuolo

Andrea Consigli – 6: Consigli could have done better with the opening goal but was left with no chance for Roma’s other two goals. He did well to save from a Pjanic free kick and was compete.

Francesco Acerbi – 7: The Italian international put in some good challenges and positioned himself well. Sassuolo’s best defender.

Paolo Cannavaro – 5.5: Cannavaro was unable to deal with Roma’ frontline, he was lost against the likes of Doumbia and Ibarbo.

Federico Peluso – 6: Solid enough. Was at fault for Florenzi’s goal but was able to clear his lines when called upon.

Alessandro Longhi – 6: He worked hard to keep Ibarbo quiet but could not do the same with Florenzi.

Saphir Taider – 6: Worked very hard but was sloppy at times. Unable to get Sassuolo ticking and was reckless in challenges.

Simone Missiroli – 6: Played some useful long balls to unleash the forwards but was not able to control the game like Pjanic.

Matteo Brighi– 6: The ex-Roma midfielder broke up the play in midfield but did not dominate Roma’s trio.

Nicola Sansone – 6: He had some joy out wide but overall his delivery was poor.

Antonio Floro Flores– 7: Sassuolo’s best forward player. He held the ball up well for his team but needed help from others around him to be more effective.

Sergio Floccari – 5: Poor, he had little service but when the ball came to him, he was ineffective.

Substitutes

Simone Zaza – 6: Was lacking support in the second half but produce some good moments.

 

AS Roma

Morgan De Sanctis – 6.5: Had very little to do but when called upon was up to the task.

Alessandro Florenzi – 8: Man of the match. Produced a great cross for the first goal and then scored a beautiful second. He also defended well when called upon.

Davide Astori – 6.5: Was confident in his task, although was rarely tested by Sassuolo’s attackers.

Konstantinos Manolas – 6: Was calm throughout, although appeared to be struggling with a knock.

Vasilis Torosidis – 6: Did not play badly, although Sansone was able to beat him on occasions and he was poor on the ball.

Miralem Pjanic – 7.5: Dictated the game with his passing. Scored a well-deserved goal late in the second half.

Daniele De Rossi – 6.6: Combative when needed and his solid passing enabled Pjanic to run the show.

Radja Nainggolan – 6: Not his usual self but did not play badly. Outshone but his fellow midfielders.

Gervinho – 7: His pace caused problems for the Sassuolo defence and produced a lovely assist for the third goal.

Victor Ibarbo – 6.5: Improved performance from the Colombian, but still not at this best.

Seydou Doumbia – 7: Produced a nice finish to get Roma off the mark and was dangerous throughout

Substitutes

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – 6.5: Closed the game out effectively for Garcia with some well timed challenges.
