Sam Allardyce is set to face off with Pep Guardiola as Joe Hart’s career approaches a crossroads, frozen out of first team action by Manchester City.

The new England coach is desperate to hold talks with Guardiola regarding the future of his first choice custodian.

“I’ll go and speak to them about that – Pep and Joe – sooner or later. Certainly when Joe joins us because he’ll be in the squad,” said Allardyce.

Guardiola has overlooked Hart for the first three games of the 2016-17 season, England’s regular No.1, preferring Willy Caballero’s presence between the posts.

With City also in the final stages of signing Barcelona gloveman Claudio Bravo, the 29-year-old’s hopes of a future at the club look rather bleak.

The situation sees Hart with a tough decision to balance his club and national team careers on his hands, as the major clubs throughout Europe have already secured their first choice goalkeepers.

“Based on how they feel, never mind from a training point of view — can they go and play at that level having not played for their own team for a considerable amount of time?” noted Allardyce.

Hart’s prospects of obtaining a starting position for both a club and his country are in significant doubt, as ‘Big Sam’ scrambles for an answer from the new Manchester City manager.
