Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is set to be ruled out of action for four weeks.

The attacking-midfielder was substituted with a hamstring injury in the 81st minute of City’s 3-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday night.

Belgian media outlet HLN are reporting that he has suffered muscle damage, equating to a potential month-long absence.

“I think he’s injured,” said City manager Pep Guardiola after Saturday’s match.

“Tonight we are going to come back to Manchester, tomorrow the doctor is going to see. It’s a pity. It’s important for us. For how he reacted it looks muscular but I’m not a doctor.”

Confirmation is said to be reached once scan results are recieved on Tuesday.

The suspected four week layoff would mean that De Bruyne is to sit out some vital matches for both club and country. With Manchester City, he would miss this week’s Champions League meeting with Celtic, as well as Premier League clashes with Tottenham and Everton.

The 25-year-old would also be in serious doubt when City travel to Barcelona on the 19th October.

De Bruyne is also set to miss two World Cup qualifiers with Belgium, as they take on Bosnia-Herzegovina and Gibraltar during the upcoming international break.
