The AVPL, Australia and New Zealand’s most prestigious Pro Clubs competition, returns to XBOX for its fifth instalment on the 9th of March.

Like every season, the hype has been building up as clubs work overtime to get their list finalised and ready for a tilt at the title.

After a tumultuous off-season for the XBOX side of AUSFIFA, the AVPL could not be coming at a better time. When all seemed lost and XBOX was widely proclaimed ‘dead’ by many, the community has come together and picked up their game, which has led to a sufficient increase in team registrations for the upcoming season. Without a doubt, it’s shaping up to be the most competitive XBOX season yet.

What is enticing about this season is the amount of teams that could potentially take out the AVPL title. La Fabrica CF are touted as early favourites, but teams such as La Masia CF, Faceless Men FC, Vendetta CF, RUTHLESS CF and Mandingos CF all present realistic chances to come up trumps and become the champions.

What does it take to be an AUSFIFA manager?

Another team that could be throwing their hat into the ring is HereForBeer FC. A fresh face in the Pro Clubs scene, HereForBeer have improved dramatically since their introduction. With a strong squad, highlighted by stars Emery, ConstantlyTipsy and Spudweizer7, there’s limit to this team’s potential.

It’s been a frustrating off-season for NO TENSION FC, who have been itching to amend their disappointing AVPL bow in Season 4. A recruitment drive led by manager HASH2 has raised more questions than answers as many free agents bypass his side for bigger and better things. Expect much to fall on the shoulders of fan favourite CordsFFC as his side struggles for goals.

As it does every season, the race for the Golden Boot is one that excites many and this season will be no different as a plethora of quality strikers enter the AVPL determined to top of the scoring charts. Last season, MedyAU took out the award in fine fashion, scoring 24 goals in 25 appearances. Expect much of the same this season from the coveted striker.

xLothiann is another who is expected to have a massive season. Having already drawn praise from some of the best in the business, Lothiann continues to prove time and time again that he is ready to transfer his impeccable Rivals form onto the big stage. With an incredible squad behind him, it’s hard to see the La Masia CF striker not taking out the crown.

The ‘Dishmaster’ award returns for another season and with it comes attacking midfielders licking their lips as they strive to help out their teammates as much as possible.

HereForBeer playmaker Spudweizer7 enters the season as the favourite for the award, having come runner up in last season’s award. Another who fancies themselves is La Fabrica’s Fletch3, who has shown his ability to play incisive balls on a regular basis.

After impressing of late, could HacKaro0 possibly be a shout? The Mandingos CF playmaker is touted for big things this season following his move from The Glory Dayz. Or could his teammate, Mandingos very own Supez, be in for a big season? The utility, who can operate in either midfield or attack, is expected to burst onto the scene after a successful AFPL season with Man City.

This season promises to be like none before, with numbers skyrocketing and rivalries forming everyday. With drama surrounding the XBOX community there is no better time than ever to put theories and opinions to bed as the most exciting league in the world kicks off for 2016.
