Western Sydney Wanderers coach Tony Popovic refused to acknowledge the hostility which goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne suffered from the Melbourne City supporters after returning to play against his former club.

Albeit the comprehensive 3-0 victory, the first-half was goalless and with Redmayne receiving the ball behind the Melbourne City active area ‘The Yarraside’, he would constantly garner jeers, boos and slurs from the home fans.

At the 20 minute mark of the game, Redmayne very nearly gifted a goal to Melbourne City star striker Harry Novillo, who failed to convert the golden opportunity.

The City supporters then proceeded to chant “you’re f*** sh***, you’re f*** sh*** Andrew Redmayne, you’re f*** sh***”.

Even with the animosity, Wanderers coach Popovic did not want to comment on the actions the Yarraside had demonstrated toward the 26-year-old custodian throughout the game.

“The only reception I remember were our fantastic fans,” Popovic said.

“They travelled on a weeknight, spent their hard earned money to come to Melbourne.

“That’s the only noise that I remember and there was plenty of that.”
