Perth Glory ended a forgettable season by defeating Western Sydney Wanderers 2-1 at Pirtek Stadium on Saturday.

Western Sydney Wanderers

Dean Bouzanis – 5.5: Replaced first choice goalkeeper Ante Covic for the Wanderers’ final home match of the season. Should have got a stronger hand to the Glory’s opening goal.

Shayne D’Cunha – 6.5: The Indian-born youth player was awarded his first start in the A-League by coach Tony Popovic. Initially shaky in the right full-back position, but later composed himself and managed to keep young star Daniel de Silva relatively quiet. Did not offer much going forward.

Jonathan Aspropotamitis – 7: A bright prospect for Western Sydney’s defence in the future. Made some good challenges and distributed well from central defence, but in some instances was poorly positioned.

Nikolai Topor-Stanley – 6.5: Dominated in the aerial battle and provided some trademark clearances. Ill-positioned for both Glory goals.

Antony Golec – 5: Caught high up the field on a number of occasions, and all nine crosses he attempted failed.

Mateo Poljak – 7: Put in a solid shift in the midfield.

Liam Youlley – 6: The young midfielder was awarded his debut for the final match of the season, and provided energy in the centre of the park. However, was often outmuscled by a more experienced Glory midfield.

Nick Kalmar – 5.5: Provided a couple of intelligent passes into the penalty box. Otherwise, his first touch left a lot to be desired. It will be interesting to see whether Popovic re-signs the former Melbourne City player.

Steve Kuzmanovski – 6: The youngster created some havoc on the right side, but often held onto the ball too long when a decisive pass could have been made.

Nikita Rukavystya – 5: Was out of position for a tap-in in the first half, and failed to deliver an incisive final ball in the front third.

Kerem Bulut – 6: A frustrating night for fan favourite Bulut, who lacked quality service and missed a handful of chances.

Substitutes

Mark Bridge – 6: Replaced Nikita Rukavystya in the 57th minute. Failed to make an impact on the match.

Golgol Mebrahtu – N/A: Made his return from injury after 413 days. Looked sharp off the bench.

Jason Trifiro – N/A: Came on for youngster Liam Youlley in the 75th minute.

Perth Glory

Danny Vukovic – 6: Spilled an effort from Bulut in the first half. Additionally, there was not much the Glory custodian could do to keep out a heavily deflected shot from the Wanderers’ Youlley.

Josh Risdon – 7.5: The right full-back loves playing the Wanderers, it seems. The 21-year-old scored a screamer against the club in late March, and grabbed an assist last night for the Glory’s second goal after a mazy run into the box.

Dino Djulbic – 7: Paired with Michael Thwaite in central defence, and prevented the threatening Bulut from making too many meaningful runs through the Perth backline.

Michael Thwaite – 7: The Perth captain provided solidity in central defence, making three interceptions and clearing the ball 11 times.

Denis Kramar – 6: Chosen ahead of Scott Jamieson for the left full-back position, and was sent packing in the second half after receiving a second yellow and a red card for a clumsy challenge on Bulut.

Rostyn Griffiths – 7: Screened well ahead of the Perth backline. Produced an excellent through ball for Maclaren, who opened the scoring in the 17th minute.

Mitchell Oxborrow – 7: The 20-year-old midfielder was given the nod by Kenny Lowe for the second time this season. Covered a lot of ground.

Richard Garcia – 7: Aptly pulled the strings for Perth in midfield.

Jamie Maclaren – 7.5: A clever run behind the Western Sydney defence ensured that the 21-year-old netted his fourth goal in two matches.

Andy Keogh – 7.5: Provided a sublime finish for Perth Glory’s second goal.

Daniel de Silva – 6.5: It was the youngster’s last game in a Perth Glory shirt before he departs for Europe. Missed a sitter in the second half.

Substitutes

Scott Jamieson – 6.5: Came on after Kramar was sent off to sure up the left side of the Glory defence.

Nebo Marinkovic – N/A: Replaced Oxborrow with ten minutes remaining.

Chris Harold – N/A: Substituted on in stoppage time.
