Napoli have defeated Chievo Verona 2-0 at the Stadio San Paolo on Saturday, with goals coming from Manolo Gabbiadini and Marek Hamšík.

Maurizio Sarri’s men returned to winning ways after making light work of Rolando Maran’s Chievo Verona.

Gabbiadini opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a precise curled effort on the edge of the box before Hamšík added to the Partenopei’s tally with a powerful strike shortly before half-time.

Napoli sit second with 14 points, just one behind Juventus, while Chievo lie in fifth place on 10 points.

Napoli

Pepe Reina – 6.5: The Spaniard had very little to do and was rarely tested, if at all, however looked assured between the sticks.

Christian Maggio – 7.5: The veteran full-back showed attacking intent with several overlapping runs whilst remaining solid in defence.

Raúl Albiol – 7: Looked assured and completed his defensive tasks in a reliable and efficient manner.

Kalidou Koulibaly – 7.5: Showcased why Antonio Conte coveted him during the summer with some expert defensive work and reading of the game.

Faouzi Ghoulam – 7: The Algerian provided his usual dangerous deliveries from out wide while ensuring very little got past him.

Piotr Zielinski – 8: One of the best performers on the pitch, the former Udinese man was energetic and creative.

Jorginho – 7: Provided plenty of cover in front of the Azzurri’s two centre-backs and showed composure on the ball.

Marek Hamšík – 8: As usual, the Partenopei captain was central to almost all of his side’s attacks. As well as this, he netted very well with a powerful finish.

José Callejón – 8: Much like Hamšík, the Spaniard was key to creating many Azzurri attacks and was unfortunate to not get on the scoresheet.

Manolo Gabbiadini – 7: Slotted his opening goal of the season very well, however was quiet for much of the game.

Lorenzo Insigne – 7.5: Was electric at times throughout the match. Provided an incisive pass to Hamšík for Napoli’s second goal.

Substitutes

Arkadiusz Milik – 6.5: Was rested in order to be fresh for his side’s Champions League clash in midweek, and did not have a big impact during his time on the pitch.

Dries Mertens – N/A

Chievo

Dario Dainelli – 6.5: The 37-year-old contained Gabbiadini for much of the game apart from his goal.

Boštjan Cesar – 6: Had a lot of work to do throughout the match and was exposed from time to time. Gave Gabbiadini too much space for the game’s opening goal.

Massimo Gobbi – 6: Much like Cacciatore, the veteran full-back was put to the test against José Callejón on multiple occasions.

Përparim Hetemaj – 6.5: The Finland international was one of his side’s more prominent midfielders in a game where they had very few moments going forward.

Ivan Radovanovic – 6: The Serb had the unenviable task of containing Hamšík and Zielinski, and was unable to do so.

Lucas Castro – 6: The former Catania man was one of the better users of the ball for the Gialloblu, however did not see enough of it.

Valter Birsa – 6: Expected to be a key figure for Maran once more this season, the former AC Milan man had minimal impact upon the match.

Riccardo Meggiorini – 5.5: Another anonymous figure for Chievo Verona before being substituted.
