Brisbane have conceded four goals for the second time in two weeks as Adelaide outclassed a Roar team struggling once again to cope with a team set up well defensively across the field.

An own goal to Corey Brown gave Adelaide the lead until a controversial Henrique penalty levelled the scores. Bruce Djite scored a double, ending a long goal drought dating back to round 18 last season, and Marcelo Carrusca put the icing on the cake with a late long-ranger strike.

Brisbane go back to the drawing board after a horror fortnight while Adelaide now go eight games unbeaten as they go five points behind Brisbane.

Brisbane Roar

Michael Theo – 6: Unlucky to concede the first goal as rebounds around the box left him unaware of where the ball was. Could not be blamed for any of the goals.

Corey Brown – 4: Replaced Stefanutto in the lineup, had more pace and got forward on more occasions but lacked the same connection with Thomas Broich.

Jade North – 5: Improved performance from the veteran centre back, looked to gain the physical edge over Djite in one of the battles of the game, but lost out in the end.

Daniel Bowles – 5: Fell apart throughout the second half and could not contain Djite.

Jack Hingert – 5: Struggled throughout the night, played a role in two Adelaide goals. Linked well with Petratos and was unlucky not the get an assist in the first half with some killer deliveries.

Corona – 7: Best Roar midfielder by far, pushed forward well and controlled as much of the midfield as possible.

Matt McKay – 5.5: Tried hard to force the Roar back into the game, but too many misplaced passes and not enough accuracy in attack made it hard for the captain to get a result.

Javier Hervas – 3: Looked confused throughout the first half. Was not sure where he should be, often found too far forward or in the same area as Corona. His days in the starting line up look numbered.

Thomas Broich – 5: Was kept in Jordan Elsey’s pocket throughout the game, needs to offer more going forward. Was not helped by the fact that Henrique did not offer the target forward impact Broich needs.

Henrique – 5: Was beaten physically all night by Dylan McGowan and Iacopo La Rocca. Looks like he has reaffirmed people’s beliefs that he is an impact player, just does not have the same impact when he starts.

Dimitri Petratos – 6: Played well and linked with Hingert but made way for Clut late in the game.

Substitutes

Steven Lustica – 6: Entered the game for Hervas and gave more across the field. Was unfortunate not to start, gave his all and will be hopeful of more gametime in the future.

Devante Clut – 5: Entered the game midway through the second half and looked to shoot on many occasions, got an unnecessary yellow card for his efforts.
