Perth Glory has have secured a major re-signing coup, tieing down reigning Johnny Warren Medalist and marquee man Diego Castro to a new one-year deal.

The former Getafe man dazzled A-League crowds around the country last season after joining Glory, no less the home supporters at nib Stadium, scoring 13 goals including a stunning volley against Melbourne City, as well as four assists.

Castro says he still has “unfinished business” in Western Australia.

“After the year we’ve just had, I feel we have a lot of unfinished business at Perth Glory and I want to win a championship. I’ve seen what it means to the club, the members and the city and I would like to be part of history,” Castro said.

“It’s been an amazing journey so far for me and my family and an experience we’ve loved. But it’s not just about me; it’s about the team and this city.

“Nothing more would make me happy than to be part of a revitalised team that’s ready to hit the ground running and go all the way and win our first premiership and championship.”

It is another milestone signing for Perth, whose squad is looking increasingly strong after the signings of Rhys Williams, Adam Taggart and Chris Herd.

Glory will open the new A-League season at home on 9 October against Central Coast Mariners.
