Pep Guardiola is admittedly nervous about Manchester City’s group stage opponent’s in this season’s Champions League.

The Sky Blues were drawn against Borussia Monchengladbach, Celtic FC and La Liga giants Barcelona, with the European showcase beginning in just under two weeks.

Although a clash with Luis Enrique’s Blaugrana is a great challenge for any team, Guardiola claims it is the Bundesliga side that is firmly on his mind.

“I’m worried about Monchengladbach,” he said in an interview with Radio Catalunya.

“I know them very well. The Champions League starts in the first round and not in the knockout stages. You cannot make mistakes. If you relax in the first two games, you are out.”

City will also have the chance to gain revenge on Barcelona, who have knocked them out of the competition at the round of 16 for the last two-years.

“We will play against the best. Nobody plays better than Barca,” said Guardiola.

“The three players up front make the difference but there is also a lot of work that goes at the back.

“They are the best and it’s a great test for us. We will see what level we will give.”

The Citizens begin their continental campaign against Die Fohlen just three days after facing rivals United in the Manchester derby.
