A howler from Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey helped Aston Villa claim only their second win in the Premier League this season.

Winless in their last three games, Alan Pardew’s men had a real opportunity to get their top four ambitions back on track against the bottom-placed Villans.

But in the end, Hennessey’s second half howler was the difference as the winless run stretched to four games for the Eagles.

Neither side could find a way through in a first half that only saw two shots on target as the sides went in all square at half time.

The breakthrough came on 58 minutes when Hennessey catastrophically fumbled Joleon Lescott’s header into his own net.

The Eagles could not find an equaliser as Remi Garde claimed his first victory as Aston Villa manager.

It was missed opportunity for the Eagles who travel to the Etihad on Saturday to take on Manchester City before entertaining Tottenham the following week.

It was a moment he would rather forget and it cost his side the points against the bottom placed side, so that is why Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is Outside90’s Villain of the Week.
