Outside90’s Joshua Scarcella casts an eye over the five best individual performances to come from the weekend’s Serie A action.
Paul Pogba (Juventus vs Palermo)
Another standout performance from the frenchman guided his team to an important win. It was up to Pogba to control much of the attacking play from midfield after Claudio Marchisio went down with an anterior cruciate ligament injury and he took the opportunity with both hands.
Displaying great strength, he fended off two opposition players to dink a ball over the Palermo defensive line towards Sami Khedira, who hit the back of the net. Pogba then put the result beyond doubt, using his long legs to tap-in a ball at the back post off a corner.

Juan Cuadrado (Juventus vs Palermo)
The on-loan Chelsea winger was on fire during a sunny spring day in Turin, his fast feet on show and Achraf Lazaar did his best to put a hold on the Columbian’s effort, but to no avail. Although having to defend on a couple of occasions, the majority of the 27-year-old’s time was spent in the attacking-half and was capped-off by a wonderful goal, chipping Ivaylo Chonchev before sending a curling effort past Stefano Sorrentino.

Marco Borriello (Atalanta vs Roma)
Much of Borriello’s season has followed the same path as the majority of his career, spending a rather successful period at Carpi before being moved onto Bergamo and seeing limited game time. Edoardo Reja will now have something to think about come the next Atalanta match though, with the Italian running riot against his old club Roma.
The 33-year-old scored two genuine centre-forward goals, one a power header, to put his team ahead after halftime. He unfortunately missed two fantastic chances to put the match beyond doubt though, before being substituted.

Alejandro Gomez (Atalanta vs Roma)
The 28-year-old has had a breakout season with his Atalanta team, despite below-par results for the majority of the campaign. The most consistent player in the squad, Gomez’ speed down the left-hand side of the pitch is his main attribute, delivering crosses into his strikers in hopes of a positive result.
The match against Roma was no different, assisting for both of Borriello’s goals and also having two efforts that did not find the back of the net. Although relatively inaccurate in this fixture, his running engine and passing ability could have other Serie A clubs taking notice.

Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan vs Napoli)
The Inter Milan captain has lead from the front in their two consecutive wins and put his mark on Napoli from the very start, scoring after just four minutes. Receiving a lobbed pass from Gary Medel, he showed some wonderful control to bring the ball to ground and then slot part Pepe Reina.
His assist for the Nerazzuri’s second showed his athleticism, bringing a high ball down for an oncoming Marcelo Brozovic.
