Outside90’s Benn Mackie casts an eye over the five best individual performances coming from Matchday 3 of the English Premier League.

Callum Wilson (Bournemouth vs West Ham)

It was a momentous weekend for Bournemouth as the newly promoted club earned its first victory in the Premier League. Callum Wilson produced a man of the match display, scoring a brace before half-time and converting a penalty after the break to complete his hat-trick. West Ham was sloppy in defence, but Wilson showed he is no slouch, using his pace and power to cause the Hammers problems.

Bournemouth fans will be delighted with the victory and Wilson’s name will be penned in the history books as the team’s first goal scorer in the Premier League.

Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle vs Manchester United)

When an unstoppable force meets and unmovable object, the result is Fabricio Coloccini’s incredible display against a plucky Manchester United. Countless times the Argentine was at hand to deny United a victory, his strength and determination helped the Geordies keep a clean sheet and take a deserved point back to the North East. Coloccini was a brick wall and made sure nothing got past him. Newcastle Manager Steve McLaren will be pleased with his captain’s effort, solid throughout the 90 minutes at Old Trafford.

Pedro Rodríguez (Chelsea vs West Bromwich Albion)

Manchester United’s loss is clearly Chelsea’s gain. Pedro was nailed on to become Louis van Gaal’s marquee signing before Jose Mourinho offered the Spaniard a contract he could not refuse. Pedro was a peripheral figure in Barcelona’s championship team over the years, but proved he still has plenty to offer in Chelsea’s 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion. Pedro was a constant danger and capped his debut with a goal after some smart interplay with Diego Costa. He later returned the favour for Costa who finished the new signing’s setup at the back post. Pedro is the spark that Chelsea need after sluggish start to the season, the win putting to ease some of the memories of the previous weekend’s beating at the hands of Manchester City.

David Silva (Manchester City vs Everton)

David Silva is one professional footballer who is well worth his exorbitant wages. Week-in and week-out, the classy attacker puts in a shift that leaves opposition defences in disarray. Everton could not get close to the Spaniard, as he helped City overcome the Blues 2-1. Silva was unlucky not to bag a goal himself when he was denied by the woodwork, but dictated play as the game progressed and threaded magical passes through the Everton defence for the pacey Raheem Sterling and Jesus Navas.

City look to be on a roll at the top of the ladder and with Silva in career best form, will be challenging for the title come May.

Petr Cech (Arsenal vs Liverpool)

In a game of two halves, the Arsenal Goalkeeper prevailed the hero in an exciting scoreless draw. Liverpool would have emerged victorious if it was not for the cat-like reflexes of Petr Cech. He made two world class saves in the first-half to deny Liverpool, the second a top draw,  fingertip touch onto the post from a fierce curling effort by Philippe Coutinho.

Cech made up for his mistakes from previous outings and will hope this performance is the turning point for his season.
