Melbourne City have finally confirmed the signing of Nicolas Colazo, with the Argentinian set to link up with the club on an initial one-year loan deal.

The Boca Juniors product, who has spent the entirety of his career there, becomes City’s second marquee alongside Bruno Fornaroli and guest marquee Tim Cahill.

He is able to play anywhere on the left-hand side, from full-back to the wing, and it is that versatility that City manager John van’t Schip is pleased to add.

“Nicolas will provide us with an important versatility on the left,” van’t Schip said.

“He is able to play and transition well across attack and defence, qualities we require to further strengthen our squad and suit our style of play.

“Given his experience in South America and the fact he is still at an age we can maximise his potential, we believe Nicolas will be a strong contributor to our squad.”

As well as filling City’s final marquee spot, Colazo’s arrival means City’s foreign quota (five) is now full.

Colazo will wear the No.9 shirt and follows in the footsteps of fellow new additions Cahill, Luke Brattan, Bruce Kamau, Michael Jakobsen, Josh Rose, Neil Kilkenny, Fernando Brandan and Braedyn Crowley.
