Fresh from opening the scoring against Shanghai SIPG in Melbourne Victory’s Asian Champions League win on Wednesday night, winger Jai Ingham is still in seventh heaven after grabbing his first opportunity to start with both hands.

Ingham burst down the left on the half-hour mark after being sent running by Olly Bozanic’s pinpoint through ball before cutting inside and smashing home to give Victory the lead.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Football Show,  Ingham told of his “unbelievable experience” to be given the chance to start in the Asian Champions League, having moved to Victory from NPL Victoria side Hume City in January.

“It was an unbelievable experience last night. It was a proud moment to put the jersey on and another proud moment to get on the scoresheet,” Ingham said.

“I got my chance and I definitely did try and take it last night.

“To get a goal was showing the fans and showing the boss I can go out there and make a difference for the team.

“He (Muscat) just set ‘be confident, that’s the main thing’. He talks to me a lot, I’ve learned a lot since I’ve been there and defensively and attacking-wise, he’s shown me a lot.

“He said he knew I could go out and do a job for him and that’s what I did.

“It was a very good win for the lads, especially for a team like that.”
