Melbourne City look set to further bolster an already talented squad with the signing of Boca Juniors attacker Nicolas Colazo.

The Argentine has previously been linked with moves to Europe, but it now appears his future lies in the A-League with City.

Speaking to Argentinian radio show Bocade Seleccion, Colazo’s agent Sergio Levington confirmed the left-sided forward is set to move to Melbourne and will join City on a one-year loan with an option to buy. He will join Bruno Fornaroli as a marquee player, while Tim Cahill is a guest marquee.

“Nico is on a trip to Italy to get an EU passport,” Levington was quoted as saying.

“It is all done for Colazo to play for Melbourne City of Australia.”

Twenty-six-year-old Colazo has spent the vast majority of his football career with Boca both at youth and senior level, registering 105 total appearances for Xeneizes.

City have already signed Cahill, Neil Kilkenny, Luke Brattan, Josh Rose, Bruce Kamau and Fernando Brandan in the offseason.

They will meet Western Sydney Wanderers in the last eight of the FFA Cup before taking on Wellington Phoenix in the opening game of the A-League season.
