Liverpool reject Mario Balotelli little chance of returning to Anfield

Mario Balotelli has already played his final game for Liverpool, according to reports by James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.

The much maligned Italian, currently on loan at AC Milan, will be sold by Liverpool once he returns from Italy.

A combination of their already available strike force of Daniel Sturridge, Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Divock Origi and Jurgen Klopp’s high-pressure system means there is no place for the 25-year-old at Anfield.

Having been signed by Brendan Rogers in 2014, Balotelli scored just one league goal in his 16 Premier League appearances and his performances have not improved in Milan with injury and his reported poor attitude limiting him to just one goal in 10 league matches.

Offers have come in from Turkey and China for the forward with Liverpool hoping to recoup as much of the £16 million transfer fee they paid for the Italian.

A rift with current coach Sinisa Mihajlovic means Milan are almost certainly not going to attempt to make his loan spell permanent despite Balotelli’s agent claiming there is no bad blood at the San Siro. The man who represents Balotelli, Mino Raiola, has also been told by the Merseyside club that he can look for new pastures for his player.

His £80,000 per week wage is another reason Klopp is looking to let go of the forward and for him to remain so well paid, China looks to be his best option, following in the footsteps of Alex Teixeira, Jackson Martinez and Ezequiel Lavezzi among others.

The young journeyman was hoping to revitalise his Anfield career having spoken fondly of Klopp but now looks to be completely out of the Liverpool picture.
