It’s official.
Mario Balotelli has now scored as many league goals in one match for Nice (two) as he has down in his last two seasons combined.
The 25-year-old was instrumental in his debut for Nice in their 3-2 victory over Marseille, slotting home a penalty after seven minutes (his first league goal since 22 September last year) before collecting his brace 12 minutes from full-time.
The 26-year-old wasting no time in letting his thoughts known of his former club Liverpool, telling French television station Canal Plus that the club were to blame.
“I joined Liverpool. It was the worst mistake of my life. Apart from the fans, who were fantastic with me, I must be honest, and the players, who I had a good rapport with, I didn’t like the club,” he said.
“I had two coaches, Brendan Rodgers and Jürgen Klopp. As people they didn’t make a good impression on me. I didn’t get along with them.”
Balotelli moved to Nice on a free transfer in the latter stages of deadline day after failed stints at Liverpool and AC Milan.
