Liverpool produced a superb display away to Borussia Dortmund to secure a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final.
The Reds frustrated the hosts in the first 30 minutes of the clash through a disciplined structure and well timed last-ditch defending.
On 36 minutes the Reds took a shock lead after Divock Origi calmly slotted the ball home 12 yards, following a superb flick on James Milner to get the striker in behind the defence.
Almost immediately after the interval the home side drew level from a close-range Mats Hummels header, with Liverpool unable to clear their lines from a set piece.
Both teams created clear-cut chances, however it was the visitors who looked the more threatening.
Dortmund had goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller to thank for in the second half, after a string of reflex saves from a scintillating Liverpool passage of play.
The tie is evenly poised for the return leg at Anfield next Thursday night.

Say what you want about Lovren, he knows when to play it at the back and when to launch it.

Imagine saying this time last year that we’d play Dortmund, Origi would score and Lovren would keep Aubameyang in his pocket. Funny game.

They all said a Dortmund win, easy they said. 2 nil, Origi up front, not a hope . #LFC #Klopp pic.twitter.com/OdQ2xDyzK9

And people question whether Klopp has made a difference to us? That was a performance Rodgers was not capable of architecting. #LFC #YNWA
