The Premier League champions are set to make another big move in the transfer market after meeting the release clause of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva.

That’s according to ESPN, who claim that the Foxes have finally given in to Sporting’s demands of a higher fee for the 27-year-old.

Despite signing a new deal in February, Silva appears set for a move to England after the Foxes met his £38.5 million release clause.

Earlier this week the Portuguese international admitted that the prospect of moving to the Premier League, could be the next move in his career.

The Leões quickly responded by claiming that the player remained fixated on finishing his career at Estadio Jose Alvalade.

“It was absolutely clear that this extension of the attachment [a contract extension signed in February] to Sporting CP meant Adrien Silva would be at the club until the end of his career,” a statement read as reported by FourFourTwo.

Silva was part of the Portuguese team which claimed victory at the recent European Championships, starting in his side’s 1-0 victory against France in the final.

The 27-year-old appears not to be the only Lisbon player to arrive at the club in the final hours of the transfer deadline with Islam Slimani reportedly completing a medical with the Foxes.
