Melbourne City captain Patrick Kisnorbo says the public need to realise the contribution his team has made to Aaron Mooy’s stellar season.

Earlier in the season, Socceroo coach Ange Postecoglou labelled Aaron Mooy as the best player in the A-League. In a press conference last Friday unveiling a friendly to be played against Greece, Postecoglou reinforced the opinion he made Christmas last year.

Albeit Kisnorbo acknowledged Mooy’s success in season 2015-16, he was adamant it was not down to one individual.

“Ange says what he says and fair enough, football is about opinions, we’re just happy to have him,” Kisnorbo said.

“Aaron’s a great member of our team, he’s very valuable. There’s a lot of players around him who give him the licence to do what he does.”

City’s shaky start to the season saw most of the burden placed on Mooy, key injuries were a big factor to players including Ivan Franjic.

After round nine they began to regain form and depth, bringing in new faces such as Anthony Caceres and Alex Wilkinson.

“There’s a lot of things that get unnoticed, those who don’t watch the game as intensely as other people,” he said.

“We’ve had a clear out and brought other players in. We have the depth there, we can see there’s positions for taking and everyone’s playing for their future.”
