Chelsea skipper John Terry is set to miss 10 days after succumbing to a foot injury.

The veteran centre-back injured himself during the 2-2 draw away to Swansea City, leaving the Liberty Stadium on crutches.

After having scans it was revealed the 35-year-old will not be available for Chelsea’s home game against Liverpool on Friday evening.

Terry confirmed on his Instagram page he would be out of action, posting a photo of him having treatment.

“John Terry’s injury suffered in Sunday’s game at Swansea is strained ligaments in his foot. He will be out for approximately 10 days,” read a Chelsea statement.

“Our captain was injured in the closing minutes of the 2-2 draw. He completed the game in pain and Antonio Conte confirmed afterwards the problem would need medical assessment.”

His exclusion means that £34m summer signing from Paris St-Germain, David Luiz, is likely to replace the captain and start for the Blues.

The Brazilian centre-half will partner Gary Cahill in central defence.

Chelsea head into the clash against Liverpool, three points ahead of the Merseyside outfit and sit in 2nd position after four games.
