Outside90 is proud to announce Local Sports Group’s free five-week competition Outdoor 5’s competition starting August 17th for men and August 19th for mixed at their brand new Blackburn venue.
Outdoor 5’s is a unique take from the game of futsal and is becoming a hugely popular alternative.
Played on a state-of-the-art AstroTurf pitches, the gang at Local Sports Group are committed to providing a fun, friendly and hassle-free sporting program.
Outside90 took time out to interview one of the Outdoor 5’s favourite sons, Michael Gronn, who captains Jim’s Futsal in the Wednesday competition.
The 25-year-old self-proclaimed larrikin is arguably the competition’s biggest advocate.
“Outdoor 5’s is a great way to keep fit and catch up with some friends. It’s a lot of fun and competitive without being too serious,” the bus driver said.
‘Gronny’ as he known by his peers, not only enjoys the convenience of the Blackburn venue, but the friendly atmosphere of Outdoor 5’s.
“It’s a great venue, staff are super friendly and our team loves to have a stretch and a warm up kick at the facility beforehand on the free court,” he said.
“The enjoyment of being outdoors in the fresh air is a major drawcard.”
Decked out in an alternate Barcelona strip each match, Gronny and his teammates love playing against all ages and all walks of life.
“It’s great that anyone can play, and to be honest makes it all the more fun when you have season players, the newcomers and even those who are quite unfit!”
