The new champions of English football received their crown at the King Power Stadium last night.
The final chapters of Leicester City’s fairy tale run to the 2015-16 Premier League title began with a 3-1 win over Everton,
Though even before the opening whistle it was clear that this was less of a football game and more of a celebration which was reaching epic magnitude.
Italian music icon Andrea Bocelli serenading the Foxes’ faithful, compatriot Claudio Ranieri and the incoming champions with a rendition of the opera classic Nessun Dorma.
The on-field proceedings could not have gone better for Leicester, with hero of the season Jamie Vardy opening the scoring from close range in the fifth minute. Club veteran Andy King would double the lead before halftime, before Vardy sealed the deal from the spot soon after the hour-mark.
A late consolation goal to the Toffees from Kevin Mirallas was hardly going to dampen any spirits of the player and home fans, who can deservedly celebrate in with the highest style after pulling off world football’s biggest upset story.
