It has taken 11 arduous seasons and a prior two failures, but Adelaide United can finally call themselves A-League champions.
The Reds are now the 2015-16 double-winners, courtesy of an emphatic 3-1 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers. Their grand final success caps off a stunning season for United, who went from winless in the season’s opening two months to premiers and champions.
On the day, it was youngster Bruce Kamau who opened the scoring before Spanish maestro and Joe Marston Medalist Isaias doubled Adelaide’s money before half time, courtesy of an inch-perfect free kick that no goalkeeper the world over would have saved.

Guillermo Amor: We deserved to win final
Scott Neville gave the Wanderers hope with a cracking finish into Eugene Galekovic’s top corner, but it was not to be third time lucky for Western Sydney. Pablo Sanchez sent the 50,000 strong Adelaide Oval crowd into a frenzy with only minutes left, securing coveted glory.
