Melbourne Victory have snapped their five-game winless run with a much-needed three points away to Newcastle Jets.
Fahid Ben-Khalfallah was the match winner on the 70 minutes with a neath finish, following a sublime pass from winger Kosta Barbarouses.
The Jets would rue their inability to create clear-cut scoring chances, as Victory ended a horrid run and kept their first clean sheet in nine outings.
Last season’s reigning champions move within a point of third placed Melbourne City, while Newcastle remain two points adrift of Wellington Phoenix who occupy sixth.
Here is some of the reactions from Twitter:

No more confident about the rest of the season than I was two hours ago, but good to have a win and to break that ridiculous curse. #NEWvMVC

#NEWvMVC Jets looks like they are always happy to go for a draw and did they even notice they were a goal down?

A win is a win is a win. Not pretty but will take it. Good chance to build on it next week vs CCM and keep touch with the leaders. #NEWvMVC
