Manchester City were held at home to a resolute Everton in a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night.
Despite a goalless first half, Everton would have been the more encouraged of the two sides. Leon Osman went close with a fierce strike and Romelu Lukaku was a handful for the City defenders.

In the second half Manchester City dominated proceedings, with Kevin De Bruyne the chief creator for the home side.
City had a case for a penalty at the death as John Stones clumsily brought down Raheem Sterling in the area.
Nevertheless, it was waved away with little appeal from the former Liverpool winger and Everton’s rearguard stood tall to earn them a point.

Players cover way to much unnecessary ground under Pellegrini. Don’t have the energy to press throughout 90 mins. #MCFC

No penalty given. Frustrating. And after #MCFC thought about contemplating bossing a game. Very frustrating. #MCIEVE

Everton always a tough out but you gotta score when you are at home #MCFC. Some draws are good. This one…meh.

Only reason the penalty wasn’t given was because it was Sterling, the Refs obv do not like him from what happened in the summer! #MCFC

Despite the not given stonewall pen, they missed against too many chances. Deserved to win, but when you don’t score… #mcfc

Once again we draw but there’s not many sides who’ll keep a clean sheet at City, thought we dug deep, onwards to Chelsea now. #EFC

Really wanted to back Pellegrini to succeed but his tactics (or lack of) has cost us. #mcfc

Our formation is old fashioned now, it's boring and predictable. We need to go 4-4-2. But we all know that will not happen #mcfc

If we had defended all season like we did tonight we could have challenged for ChampsLeague. Good result, City and Spurs out of the way #efc

Besic putting himself in ‘first name on the team sheet’ territory. Was excellent again and we look so much stronger with him in. #EFC

Another two points missed. Sick of watching points slip away because the style of soccer pellegrini wants to play. #MCFC
