Daniel Sturridge proved his class in front of goal yet again, scoring a brace in Liverpool’s 6-1 over Southampton in a League Cup quarter-final.

The England international played an integral part in the Reds’ win after a clinical 58 minute display.
Southampton opened the scoring inside a minute, only for Sturridge to work an angle for himself and far an expert shot across a despairing Maarten Stekelenburg.
And only four minutes later the returning striker put his team in front thanks to an outrageous chipped pass from Emre Can with the outside of his right boot.
Divock Origi got a toe on a fierce Alberto Moreno shot on the stroke of half time to put the game to bed and added a further two in the second half to complete a hat-trick.
Jordon Ibe smashed in a rasping drive after coming off the bench to make it 5-1, but despite a plethora of top performances, and Origi’s three, all the headlines are focused on Sturridge’s clinical performance.
Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter:

He’ll do more in a quarter of a season than most strikers manage in a full one. That’s why he’s worth persevering with. #sturridge
