The next chapter in Tim Cahill’s illustrious football career began with Melbourne City’s FFA Cup clash against Brisbane Strikers earlier tonight.
It took two penalties converted by Bruno Fornaroli to see Jon van’t Schip’s side through to the next stage of the tournament, with the Socceroo star introduced on the hour-mark with the scores locked at 1-1.
The veteran striker is easing into his role within the team and his debut was quieter than many would have hoped, yet the hosts were given another attacking puzzle to deal with as City took over the game in the latter stages. Fans will hope that he sees more game time, and more of the ball in the lead up to the new A-League season.
