Melbourne Victory have secured passage through to the semi-finals of the FFA Cup after 2-0 victory away to Bentleigh Greens.
Victory dominated the early exchanges but couldn’t translate their possession into an opening goal, as Greens held tough.
The home side would have been happy to stay level at half-time, after growing into the game in the latter stages of the first period.
Bentleigh were dogged but were eventually overwhelmed by Victory’s class, with goals from Marco Rojas and James Troisi securing the hard-fought win in front of 3,754.
Besart Berisha came close to making it three in the 91st minute, but his shot rattled the base of the post. Kevin Muscat’s side now join Sydney FC, Melbourne City and Canberra Olympic in the semi-finals.
The crowd figure is a new attendance record for Bentleigh.
