Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has weighed in on the Arsenal managerial debate, proclaiming that Diego Simeone is best suited to replace Arsene Wenger after two decades.

Parlour, 43, enjoyed a highly decorated career under the French manager, winning the Premier League title and FA Cup four times each.

“Simeone, whether he would want to move from LaLiga we don’t know, but I’m sure he would like to test himself in the Premier League against the likes of Guardiola, Mourinho, Klopp and managers like that.

“He would be the favourite if it came to Arsenal changing the manager at the end of the season.”

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has been linked with Arsenal recently, but Parlour believes the young manager is not yet ready: “I don’t think he would know enough about big foreign players to attract them,” he told talkSPORT.

“He is doing a wonderful job at Bournemouth and he could be a manager in the future for Arsenal, but I think it is a little bit too soon for him at the moment.”
