British TV personality Piers Morgan’s attempt to recruit Barcelona superstar Gerard Pique to Arsenal via Twitter has been greeted with a firm no from the Catalan captain.
One of Arsenal’s most famous and vocal fans, Morgan has been frustrated with his club’s lack of transfer activity. He decided to take matters into his own hands by publicly posting a plea for help from Pique.
Will you sign for Arsenal & put us out of our defensive misery?#AskPique @3gerardpique

Seemingly happy in Barcelona, Pique declined the offer and instead suggested that Morgan direct his requests toward Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
It's very very difficult Piers. Ask your 'friend' Arsene to buy quality defenders! https://t.co/wVRca56EGI

Pique was just one of four players that Morgan desperately tried to recruit to London with the transfer window shutting next week. The other targets to draw his eye are Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal and Antoine Griezemann.
Hi mate @LuisSuarez9, give me a number which will make you join @Arsenal right now.
£100m? £120m? £140m?
I will make it happen.— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) August 24, 2016
Evening Arturo @kingarturo23, I want you to come to @Arsenal.
Our manager won't bid for you, but I will sort the money. #afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) August 24, 2016
Hey there Antoine @AntoGriezmann, I want you at @Arsenal to play up front with Suarez. We have £300m to spend, so money not a problem. #afc

While none of those requests drew responses from the players in question, Morgan’s desire for new signings is echoed by many Arsenal supporters who feel as though their side is not strong enough for a Premier League title challenge.
It appears as though Morgan’s request for a defender will not fall on deaf ears as reports suggest that the club have attempted to sign Newcastle United’s Chance Mbemba.
Wenger is attempting to fill the void left by the injured Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista before the transfer window closes on August 31.
