In tonight’s televised fixture, Northern NSW NPL premiers Edgeworth Eagles were soundly beaten 5-1 by Western Sydney Wanderers.

The Wanderers went into the half-time break 2-0 ahead with goals from Scott Neville and Brendan Hamill.

Neville found the net again early on in the second half to make it 3-0.

The 39-year-old Danny McBreen, who has a history of scoring against the Wanderers for old club Central Coast Mariners, popped up in the 59th minute to take it to 3-1 and breathe some life into the game.

A storied comeback was not to be for the Eagles, as Brendon Santalab scored a late brace to put the game to rest.

Elsewhere, Green Gully came back from a goal down against Melbourne Knights at the Knights Stadium to record a 3-1 victory to secure their path to the quarter-finals.

Recent Wellington Phoenix trialist, Stipo Andrijasevic scored early for the home side but two quick goals to Gully courtesy of Liam Boland and Nick Krousouratis had the away side up 2-1 at the half.

The Knights were dealt a heavy blow on 73 minutes, when Damien Miskulin was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Arthur Papas’ side took full advantage of their one-man advantage, scoring a 75th minute penalty through Liam Boland.

In Tasmania, Devonport Strikers hosted Victorian NPL premiers Bentleigh Greens and put in a gallant effort in difficult conditions to hold their more fancied opponents goalless after 90 minutes.

Ultimately, the Victorian side prevailed, scoring in extra-time as a Ryan Paczkowski cross was guided into the net by substitute Matt Thurtell.

In tonight’s only all A-League fixture, Perth Glory entertained Sydney FC at Dorrien Gardens, the home of Perth SC.

The match went goalless for the regulation ninety minutes, and the two teams had to battle it out in extra-time.

In the ninth minute of the first extra period, former Serbian international Milos Ninkovic scored a superb solo effort to put the Sky Blues ahead.

With eight minutes remaining, Alex Brosque coolly slotted another to make it 2-0 for the visitors, and send Graham Arnold’s side to the next round of the FFA Cup.
