Melbourne Victory star Fahid Ben-Khalfallah has pledged his loyalty to Melbourne Victory, stating that he would like to finish his career in Australia at “the biggest club.”

Khalfallah set the A-League alight in a glittering first campaign in the 2014/15 season but struggled to re-produce that form in his second in the A-League, leading to reports of unrest at the club, coupled by his omission from the Asian Champions League club.

Speaking in Melbourne at the launch of the International Champions Cup Australia presented by Audi, Khalfallah said his heart bleeds only navy blue.

“I still have my contract and I want to finish my career at Melbourne Victory. It’s a great club and for me it’s the biggest club in Australia,” he told Outside90.com.

“My family and I are very happy here, we don’t want to move anywhere we just want to stay here.

“I love it [Melbourne]. It’s easy to love! For me it’s the best city in the world.”

Khalfallah was on hand alongside Juventus legend David Trezeguet, former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King and Ateltico Madrid icon and current director Jose Luis Perez Caminero to help officially launch the second instalment of the ICC in Australia, which gets underway on July 23.

“We get to play against giants of world football. It’s just amazing for the club, especially for the young players,” he said.

With the ICC enjoying a terrific opening tournament last year with over 200,000 attending the three matches featuring Real Madrid, Manchester City and Roma, Australia is in the shop window for the world and Khalfallah is still astonished at how Australia has not been given the chance to host a World Cup.

“I honestly, for me it’s unbelievable,” he said.

“You have everything in Australia to organise a World Cup. The country is safe, lots of good cities with airports, facilities and accommodation, the biggest stadiums and everyone loves sport, everyone loves soccer.

“That’s a thing I can’t understand. We know why. People in FIFA…you have to give them a lot of money but I don’t think people in Australia are like that.”
