Manchester United won their first FA Cup since 2004 with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace after extra time at Wembley last night.

Best Performers

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) – The veteran had great game deep in the midfield with most of his passing having a major impact when United were looking to get forward. The equaliser came after a hard run from Rooney saw him able to get to the byline and deliver a cross towards the far post which Juan Mata eventually put past Wayne Hennessey. He was also key in defence with two key tackles on Wilfried Zaha preventing him from getting shots on goal.

Mile Jedinak (Crystal Palace) – Played a key role in trying to nullify the impact of tall Belgian Marouane Fellaini. From corners the Australian was strong and always worked hard to put pressure on the midfielder to ensure that he did not have a clear and easy header on goal. Jedinak also prevented Rooney from creating another goal from the same position where he set Mata up with some strong defending.

David DeGea (Manchester United) – When the pressure was really being applied by the Eagles forwards the custodian really stood up for United and showed his worth to the club. There were a couple of times late in the game where the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Dwight Gayle and Zaha were able to get beyond the defence. If not for some great shot stopping and assertive decision making when coming to claim the ball, it would have been a very different situation for the Red Devils.

Honourable mentions also go to goal scorers Jason Puncheon and Jesse Lingard who both came off the bench to swing the game in their sides favour.
