Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is set to return to English football after agreeing to sign with Championship side Nottingham Forest.

While the deal is yet to be finalised, Bendtner has reportedly verbally agreed to join the two-time European champions in talks at the City Ground on Tuesday.

The 72-time Denmark international was released from his contract at Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg in April.

The 28-year-old spent ten years at the Arsenal between 2004 and 2014 making 108 league appearances, and scoring 24 goals for the North London side – during this period he also spent time on loan at Birmingham, Sunderland, and Italian giants Juventus.

This will be the Red’s 12th signing of the summer, with new manager Philippe Montanier looking to build a squad capable of promotion to the Premier League and hopefully awaken the sleeping giant that is Nottingham Forest.

Bendtner will join former Arsenal alumni Henri Lansbury and Armand Traore at the City Ground and could be set to face his former employers in the third-round of the League Cup on September 20.
