The reigning English champions recorded a very controversial, yet needed 2-0 win over fierce rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge earlier tonight.
In an competitive and fast-paced first-half it was Chelsea who probably looked the most threatening, enjoying possession in their attacking-third but lacking a deadly final pass to be finished off. Although the deadlocked remained, the match hit boiling point at the end of the first-half when Gabriel was shown a straight red card for a supposed stomp on Costa, although replays showed that the striker was probably making the most of the contact.
The afternoon would quickly turn into a nightmare for Arsenal after the restart though. Kurt Zouma finding space inside the box to head home a 53rd minute winner on the end of a Cesc Fabregas delivery. Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished with a second red card for Santi Cazorla and a first Legue goal for Eden Hazard in the late stages.
