Outside90’s Yannick Forde discusses the big issues to emerge from matchday eight of the English Premier League.

High-flying Palace wins again

After consecutive defeats to Man City and Spurs, Crystal Palace have seemingly got their campaign back on track with this win over West Brom following their win over Watford. After eight games, Palace remarkably find themselves in 3rd place, and this performance underlined why they deserve their position in the table so much. For the whole afternoon, Yannick Bolasie, Jason Puncheon and Wilfred Zaha terrorized the Baggies defence, and Yohan Cabaye was again excellent. Both Bolasie and Cabaye rounded off their performances with goals, and things are certainly looking up for Alan Pardew’s men.

Vardy and Leicester City march on

Another fairytale start to the season has been in the form of Leicester City. A team that was struggling to stay up in the division last season has been significantly rejuvenated by Claudio Ranieri. Despite having way less of the ball than Norwich, their win underlined Ranieri’s idea of how his team should play. They transition from defence to attack very quickly and with the likes of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in attack, they have the weapons to finish off any team. Vardy, in particular, has been excellent, and he added to his brace from last week with a well-taken strike here. Leicester City can push on after the international break away to Southampton.
