The demise of Newcastle United this season is a sad story, unless you are a giddy Sunderland fan who just consigned their fiercest rivals to the second tier of English football.
Relegated in 2009, the club will need to rouse themselves once more for the dogfight that is the Championship.
Notoriously one of the toughest and most competitive leagues in world football, there are no guarantees that key players will remain at the club and scrap for the cause like they did last time they were in this unimaginable position.
A significant increase in TV revenue will filter into the pockets of top-flight clubs next season, which adds further misery to a season of hell for Newcastle United and their passionate supporter base.
Copa90 interviewed some of the club’s loyal fans to try and better understand the trials and tribulations of the club under the ownership of Mike Ashley.
