Loan signing Loïc Rémy has returned to Chelsea after sustaining an injury during training on Monday for Crystal Palace.

The injury is expected to keep the 29-year-old out for up to two months with the player returning to his parent club to be assessed fully.

A deadline day signing for the Eagles, Remy has come in to bolster the attacking options at Crystal Palace. Manager Alan Pardew expressed his disappointment in an official club statement:

“It is obviously a blow for the player and for us as a squad, he has just joined us and we were hoping he would play a big part in the team moving forward,” he said.

“He was looking great in training and this was an innocuous injury which can sometimes happen unfortunately.”

Rémy has only started six matches in the last calendar year with multiple injury issues keeping the once dynamic striker on the sidelines.

Crystal Palace face a difficult away to trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday as the Premier League resumes this weekend after the international break.
