Barcelona have confirmed the arrival of Valencia striker Paco Alcacer on a five-year deal, in a move worth €30 million.

The Spanish giants have wasted no time in slapping a large price tag on the Spanish international, having inserted a €100 million release clause into his contract.

Alcacer joins Luis Enrique’s men as their sixth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Andre Gomes, Jasper Cillessen, Lucas Digne, Samuel Umtiti and Denis Suarez.

“When I found out about the offer from FC Barcelona I asked the club to listen to it, as it was my decision to take a step forward in my career,” he told valenciacf.com.

“I want to thank Valencia CF and the fans. Despite the fact that I am leaving Valencia CF, I will always be a Valencianista at heart.”

The striker made over 100 appearances for his former club, following his graduation from the youth academy as he scored 43 goals in his time with the senior team.

At international level, the attacker has made a strong start to his career, registering six goals from his first 13 appearances with the national side.

Barcelona fans may get the chance to see their new signing in action after the international break when they host Alaves.
