Borussia Dortmund have been dealt a blow with star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reportedly informing the club he wants to leave.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the 27-year-old Gabon international has informed his club that he wants to move to the Bernabeu.

Marca’s report says that negotiations are not yet at a serious stage, however based on the positive relationship between the two clubs, a deal could be reached soon.

The motivation for this move comes from the fact he promised his grandfather he would play for the Spanish team one day and as he enters his late twenties, the time for such a move is sooner rather than later.

It would be Real Madrid’s second purchase of the summer having purchased Alvaro Morata back from Juventus.

Aubameyang would join a crowded forward line and find himself competing for match time with Karim Benzema and Morata, however, the prospect of fighting for a starting spot is not a deterrent.

Having signed for Dortmund in July 2013, Aubameyang has improved his goal scoring record in each of the three seasons with the team, tallying 39 goals in 46 appearances last season and is off to a good start in the new season scoring twice in the league opener.

The striker has attracted a lot of attention from big clubs in the past, in particular Arsenal, who have been linked to him on numerous occasions as a potential solution to their striking woes.

It appears as though he will only leave for Los Blancos in Spain however and fans are keeping an eye on the news feed to see if this deal goes through.
